Gervais, anti-Semite

I usually don't respond to this sort of thing, but this anonymous comment caught my eye today. It was on "I Hate the State Newspaper (dot com)":

Barbeque and Politics and Anti-Semitism?

Posted By: Anonymous - 6/22/2006 9:30:53 AM

What is the fascination at http://scbarbecue.blogspot.com/ with Howard Rich? Mr. Rich is a freedom loving American and has done absolutely nothing wrong.

Why do the people behind the B&P blog pursue him so hatefully? Why are they so mean-spirited in their persecution of him?

Could Anti-Semitism underlie their zeal?

I guess it warrants an answer, just in case a) it's a genuine question and b) Howard Rich is of the Jewish faith:

Yes. Anti-Semitism underlies my zeal to expose the bankrolling of SCRG and the voucher effort almost entirely by a New York libertarian millionaire through bogus corporations. Isn't it obvious?

Not really, of course.

Goodness!

Seems you might have touched a nerve somewhere, Gervais...

...the nerve in the lower back that twitches when someone tries to lift your wallet and makes you want to lash out with lame accusations.

Bravo! Keep digging!

"Obviously the anti-Sanford group at Barbeque and Politics are so rabid against Sanford that they are willing to bash anyone who wants honest government and for South Carolinians to have just a little bit of control in our government run schools. Very strange indeed." part of a post by Posted By: Anonymous - 6/24/2006 6:10:32 PM on ihatethestate.com

bash anyone that wants honest government??? what a joke!!! where does the honesty about funding sources and honesty in government intersect? how can a group that skirts disclosure laws and hides behind shell corporations use the word honset with a straight face?

Please excuse my mistake on spelling “honest” in the last post? I may have misspelled it, but at least I can comprehend what it means...

Dear South Carolina Superintendent of Education Inez Tenenbaum,

Former SCEOC member and lyme disease victim Karen Iocavelli has signed her name to the following Proclamation for the Separation of School and State:
"I proclaim publicly that I favor ending government involvement in education"

Please honor Ms. Iacovelli's desire by immediately cancelling all taxpayer funded public school contracts for plastic cutlery that is currently being provided to South Carolina public schools by Ms. Iacovelli's company, Dispoz-o Products, Inc.

After cancellation of said taxpayer funded public school contracts to supply plastic cutlery used to feed and nourish our most precious resource, Ms. Iacovelli may determine that it is necessary to terminate the employees she currently employs in the Dispoz-o Products, Inc. "School Kit Department."

http://www.dispozo.com/facts.htm

Should this be the case, please give consideration to securing employment for these hard working people in South Carolina public school lunchrooms.

Also, please be advised that any Dispoz-o Products, Inc. cutlery that has come into contact with Ms. Iacovelli should be immediately isolated, quarantined far away from children, and destroyed, as it is most likely contaminated with a savory blend of cow, horse, sheep, pig, and chicken manure.

Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration.

The Cackalacky Candidate.

PS....that plastic spoon that you are stirring your coffee with. Is it Dispoz-o Products?????

Looks like Karen could have used some of that public schooling when designing her website. I've never heard of "polystrene" utensils. Seems like someone who is in the business of making plastic things would know how to spell polystyrene. If it was just once, I could pass it off to a bad editor. But every one of their products are made out of this "polystrene" material. Anybody know what that is?

Those high-faluting private schools seem to have failed her, at least in the spelling department.

FYI-

Polystyrene is “Styrofoam” (very ineffective when used to make utensils). Polystrene is a type of plastic (your Nalgene bottle is made of polyethylene, a less porous plastic). Nomenclature can be rough. 3 minutes on Google can save one a little embarrassment.

But what do I know, I was homeschooled.

FYI, Anon (in defense of W)-

Polystrene is actually just a mispelling of polystyrene, but a very common one. Polystyrene is the second most commonly used type of plastic; your computer cover is probably made of it, plastic cups are made of it, it is used to make model planes and boats, and, alas, plastic cutlery. "Styrofoam" is indeed made of polystyrene, but it is processed differently than the cups or cutlery.

Read all about it on this great polymer site, then look around:

But what do I know, I'm just a chemistry grad student

anon,
Have a look here please.

3 minutes of not trusting google to spell things correctly either might have saved YOU a little embarrassment.

thanks robert.
