From Jim Davenport’s Friday AP story about SC’s unemployment rate, which is higher than when Sanford took office, despite an impressive 1% drop nationally during the same period:"There continues to be more people working in South Carolina than ever before […]" Sanford said.
But from Jim DuPlessis’s article in The State on the same topic:The state had 1,898,300 nonfarm jobs in March, only 2,200 jobs shy of its 1,900,500 jobs record set in June 2000.
All this leads me to just one conclusion: Jim DuPlessis is a dirty liar.
I got my eye on you, DuPlessis.

It was a .1% drop, not 1%. Learn to read Ross.

(As I was recently told after ribbing a fellow blogger about a misspelling, "Typos happen." I deserved it, too, because what a snotty thing to say to somebody!)
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national unemployment rate in Jan 2003 was 5.7% and in Mar 2006 was 4.7%. SC's were 6.3% and 6.5%, respectively.
What's Marshall's spin on this?

5.7% - 4.7% = 1% drop in US unemployment.
I can explain this complex arithmetic off-line if you're interested.
Ironic how "anonynous" -- the Sanfordite - adomonishes Gervais ("learn to read") yet appears to need to learn simple math.
