Political newcomer has quite the campaign war chest, says USC political science professor.

B&P News - Bishopville

A political unknown from the outskirts of Bishopville announced this weekend that he intends to unseat Congressman John Spratt in South Carolina's 5th District.

"It's time for new blood," said candidate L. Percy Mann, in his announcement Saturday afternoon at a rest area off Interstate 20. "Cold blood." Mann then disappeared into a wooded thicket.

Mann faces fellow Republicans Park Gillespie and Ralph Norman in a primary election, and so far has more cash on-hand than either candidate. "He has quite the war chest," says USC political Science professor Gunther Fables. "It seems to have come out of nowhere, like he won the lottery or something."

Mann says his key issue will be wetland and forest conservation.

Your website is great! Thanks for keeping the funny articles coming. And of course, the BBQ reviews are much appreciated in finding new places since the closing of the great Millenders BBQ.

Did you know that the name of the swamp in which the Lizard Man resides, Scape Ore Swamp, is derived from the words "Escaped Whore," dating back to the Revolutionary War.

As far as BBQ, if you are looking to journey outside the greater Columbia area, check out "Bo's" which is in Prosperity/Pomaria. Be prepared to wait, and there's no "No Smoking" section, but the ribs are so good, they'll make ya slap yo' mama.

I don't think the Lizard Man will win, mainly because Lee County is in the sixth Congressional District, not the fifth.

Actually, Moose, most of Lee County is in the 5th District. Check out this map. Compare it with this crude map (best I could find), and you can clearly see that Bishopville (and Scape Ore Swamp) are in the portion of Lee County included in the 5th District.

Or you may visit this site, type in Bishopville's ZIP code (29010-1414), and you will see that Bishopville in in District 5.

In sum, Gervais is correct that the Lizard Man is safe to throw his hat in the ring for the 5th Congressional seat!

Thanks for the backup, Laurin. Gerrymanders are no match for lizards.
